riverOcean
has worked with English and French partners to create an image bank of photos and recorded interviews
of people on both sides of the channel, which will then be used to create five separate projects. The goal of the projects is to provide an educational resource accessible to all members of the community which will increase knowledge and understanding of coastal areas in the region.
Project Outputs

1) A touring exhibition which will feature portraits of local people and their relationship to the sea. The exhibition will tour the region in the autumn of 2000 and winter 2001 info

Environmental
Commentary

2) A bilingual CD ROM of the area to be used by environmental professionals, members of the public to gain a greater understanding of the two coastal areas.

3) A bilingual Internet site which will use geographic information systems to create a dynamic ecotourism & biological monitoring site which will enable both French & English members of the public to understand the two coasts and associated environments.


4) A bilingual book of the two areas which will highlight the coastal strip geography, the people who work or lives involve an aspect of the sea, pictures of some of the flora and fauna within the area.

5) A resource pack aimed at higher education students and community groups which will examine coastal processes on both sides of the channel.

The English partners
riverOcean , Lewes District Council, The Booth Museum (Brighton & Hove Unitary Authority) and University of Brighton.

The French partners
Tibo & Regional Council of the Somme.

Project range on the English side is from Brighton to Rye, on the French side from Le Treport to Baie d'Authie.

The project will run from October 98 to June 2001.
