Opportunities include talks and guided walks with a focus on conservation and the habitat around the reservoir. The need for saving water is taught in this wider context. The educational opportunities at the reservoir are currently being developed.

Facilities include a car park, a bird hide and toilets.

Beachy Head Countryside Centre, Beachy Head

Organisation: Eastbourne Borough Council

Opportunities for rock pool dipping and marine plant identification. The Countryside Centre houses an inter-active exhibition on the locality.

Foredown Tower Countryside Centre, Portslade

Organisation: Brighton and Hove Council

Opportunities : As a converted water tower it is of historical interest. It has a small pond for pond dipping. and small displays on water and weather. Main interest is the Camera Obscura. Worth considering if combined with other projects.

Facilities: Visitors Centre. Accessible by bus from Brighton.

The Lewes Railway Land , Lewes

Organisation: Lewes District Council

Opportunities for the study of ditches, chalk stream, stew ponds and the River Ouse. The ranger can offer support and information on management techniques, the importance of wetland and water habitats, life processes and eco-systems.

Ninfield Environmental Centre, Catsfield

Organisation: National Grid and East Sussex County Council

Opportunities : 18 hectares of water meadow and ponds offer opportunities of water studies. Pond creatures can be taken inside if wet.

Opportunities: extensive resource library including water education packs, books and other publications on water. Produces a bi- annual conference on environmental education and current research.

Sealife Centre, Brighton

Organisation: Private Enterprise

Opportunities to look at both freshwater and marine life close up. Half hour talks can be arranged around the touch pool, where children can handle sea creatures.

Organisation: Trust Port

Opportunities: View 8 minute video of port (subject to availability of board room). Visit Locks area. Access beach and harbour arm. Observe (from distance) cargo handling from/to ship. Guided talk on ships and cargoes in port.

Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Arundel

Organisation: The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust

Opportunities: Education programs designed to support the Science NC. 60 acres nature reserve, over 1000 ducks, geese and swans. Two dipping ponds. Pre-visits welcome.

Facilities: Lecture theatre, covered viewing hides, free car park. Level access to all areas.

Woods Mill, Henfield

Organisation: Sussex Wildlife Trust

Opportunities include the study of a variety of wetland habitats, including a stream, water meadow and lake. Dipping ponds provide opportunities for practical activities outside and a fully equipped classroom allows for indoor study.
