Formally the National Rivers Authority, the Environment Agency is the most comprehensive environmental protection body in Europe. It is responsible for pollution prevention and control, the regulation of waste disposal and the management of the water environment. It produces educational materials, advise and may help with school visits.

Acts as a lobby group to encourage creation of marine nature reserves and reduction of pollution in our coastal waters. It organises research projects (e.g. SeaSearch) and campaigns for the protection of endangered species. It produces educational resources.

This water company provides schools with a talks presentation service. The half hour slide presentation on the water cycle, weather patterns etc. is suitable for K. S. 2. It also produces a pack and newspaper for the primary school.

The Water Kit teaches about water supply and use in the UK and rural India.


Southern Water Services Ltd.:

Water Wise Pack raises awareness of water as a finite and essential resource.


South East Water:

Making Water Clearer provides information and activities that focus on water supply.


UNICEF(UK):

Clean Water, a Right for All: Active Project Work for Children aged 7 - 12 suggests activities on water, its control, supply, use and pollution. It includes experiments and design activities whilst covering the human issues of water as a resource. Tidy Britain Group: Water: Towards a Sustainable Lifestyle is available to registered Eco- schools. It contains useful information and ideas for activities in the classroom.


Severn Trent Water:

Water and Development Issues, Focus on Stories, KS1 asks questions such as 'What is water?', ' What makes water precious?'. Water and Development Issues, Focus on Ethiopia, KS2 is an issue-based approach to explore water, using the local area and Ethiopia as case studies.

Reservoir Book contains information and ideas for activities about the water cycle, and supply and demand of water from ancient times to the present day.

The Water Box contains an extensive programme of work, including 21 science experiments.


BBC Educational Publishing:

Water Video Plus looks at different aspects of water with demonstrations of practical investigations.

Naturetrek Educational:

Water Activities is a photocopiable booklet that uses the water environment to teach across the curriculum. Water contains photocopiable worksheets and a teacher's booklet on the topic of water, with activities and experiments for indoors and outdoors.


Severn Trent Water:

Water in the Science Curriculum Pack KS 1/2 is designed to support teachers teaching a project on water as part of the Science curriculum and covers all aspects of water, from rain through treatment.


The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust:

Wildfowl and Wetlands Resource Book for Teachers is full of information and ideas for teaching about wildfowl and their habitat.


Devon Wildlife Trust:

Seashore: a Marine Environmental Resource Pack includes ideas for practical activities and games for the classroom to demonstrate most aspects of Life Processes and Living Things.
