Ecofayre: Brighton & Hove
Organisation: riverOcean Foundation
Location: Rottingdean, just east of Brighton
Meeting Place: On the beach under the White Horse Pub in Rottingdean
Start Time: 12 noon
Finish Time: 5pm
Duration: 5 hours
Details: Join us for a day of pebble-painting, rock-pooling, scuttling crabs, touch tanks,
marine lab, labyrinth and stories of the sea...



Discovery Walk: Seven Sisters Country Park
Organisation: Sussex Downs Conservation Board
Location: The Beach beneath the Seven Sisters Cliffs
Meeting Place: At the beach by the cliff end (30 mins walk from the visitor centre)
Start Time: 5pm
Finish Time: 6.30pm
Duration: 1.5 hours
Details: Join the Rangers on a 'search and identify mission' on the rocky shore beneath the Seven Sisiters Cliffs. Especially suitable for families. Wear suitable clothing and a smile!



Discovery Walk: Hastings, Shipwreck Heritage Centre
Organisation: Shipwreck Heritage Centre
Location: On the beach Bulverhythe , St.Leonards-on-sea
Meeting Place: Meet on the beach off Bridge Way, St. Leonards on sea
Start Time: 6.45pm
Duration: 1 hour
Details: Walk and talk the story of the wreck of the 'Amsterdam' 1749, still visible at extreme low tides. Wear wellies and warm clothes.



Discovery walk: Folkstone
Organisation: White Cliffs Countryside Project
Location of walk: Lower Leas Coastal Park
Meeting Place: The Amphitheatre, Lower Leas Coastal Park, Lower Sandgate Road, Folkstone
Start Time: 6.45pm
Finish Time: 8.15pm
Duration: 1.5 hours
Details: Rock pooling at the Lower Leas Coastal Park. A short walk for a spot of rock pooling. Have a go at finding finger nipping crabs.

Organisation: White Cliffs Countryside Project
Location of walk: Samphire Hoe
Meeting Place: Samphire Hoe, off the A20 coming out of Dover
Start Time: 2pm
Finish Time: 7.30pm
Duration: 5.5 hours
Details: 2pm - 6 pm: Marine Lab with divers ,marine life, quizzes and games.
2pm - 4pm: Seashore Costume Making
6.00pm: Procession to the Sea across Samphire Hoe to release the animals back to the sea.



Discovery walk: Romney Marsh
Organisation: Whole Hog Arts Company
Location of walk: Greatstone
Meeting Place: Greatstone Car Park, opposite the Jolly Fisherman Pub
Start Time: 2pm
Duration: 2 hours
Details: Seashore collage. An afternoon of making a shell collage to take home. Then at 7pm, explore Greatstone Beach with Andy Morris from RMCP to find characters such as the Grumpy Shrimper and Doug the Bionic Bair Digger. Shell out for a donation of one squid!

Programme " A marée basse "
Samedi 17 Mai 2003

ACCUEIL DES SCOLAIRES (sur inscription au service éducatif)
De 9 h 30 à 11 h 30 :
Jardins du vent : les classes qui ont créé des objets volants viennent les installer à proximité des tentes dans les jardins du vent.
Découverte libre : Les classes découvrent de façon autonome la vie en bord de mer en vivant des activités présentées dans un document remis à l'enseignant (ceux-ci ont eu l'occasion de se former le mercredi auparavant).
Assistance : Des " spécialistes " se trouvent près des rochers et sur la plage pour aider les enseignants à répondre aux questions des enfants.
Séance de cinéma : Les élèves assistent également à une séance de cinéma avec un film sur les " marées ".

A partir de 10 h 30 : Les enfants peuvent apporter les êtres vivants qu'ils ont découverts dans des bacs prévus à cet effet sous le chapiteau " découverte ".

EVENEMENT GRAND PUBLIC
De 13 h 30 à 18 h 30
Des ateliers pour explorer, comprendre et fêter la vie en bord de mer.

" J'explore le bord de mer " : La plage est comme un grand désert, et pourtant elle grouille de vies toutes plus insolites les unes que les autres. Sur les rochers les animaux attendent le retour de la mer. Zoom sur ces êtres vivants qui nous dévoilent leurs secrets.

" Jeux de mer " : Pister en médiathèque les réponses à nos questions.

" Raconte-moi la mer ! " : Des histoires pour mieux comprendre, pour rêver, pour imaginer, pour se reposer…

" Des images de mer " : une séance de cinéma pour comprendre pourquoi la mer monte et descend deux fois par jour.

" Je fête la mer " : Se maquiller , écouter les chansons des marins, boire un coup, manger du poisson grillé.

" J'envoie un message pour la mer " : Une créature marine, longue sculpture de sable collective, qui s'allonge avec la marée descendante ; nos messages sont avalés par la marée montante.
Des peintures qui sèchent au vent ; nos messages sont transportés par les airs… à qui veut les entendre !

VISITES GUIDEES A LA POINTE DE LA CRECHE POUR TOUT PUBLIC
9 h : " Visite guidée à marée basse " avec l'Association des Guides nature du littoral
20 h : " Promenade crépusculaire à marée basse " avec Eden 62

Avec la participation des animateurs d'Eden 62, des Classes d'éveil et de découverte du Mont de Couppe à le Portel, des Guides nature du littoral, de Nature et découverte, des petits débrouillards et de Maréïs.



 


Discovery walk: St Mary's Lighthouse, St Mary's Island

Location of walk: St Mary's Island, Whitley Bay
Meeting Place: Lighthouse reception area
Start Time: 10am
Finish Time: 12 noon
Duration: 2 hours
Details: Rockpool discovery walk, discover creatures of the seashore over uneven ground and exposed coast, wear warm clothes and flat shoes or trainers.
· 10am - 11am: Rockpooling
· 11am - 12am: Visit touch tank aquarium & do some seaweed pressing



Ecofayre: Portsmouth
Organisation: Portsmouth Friends of the Earth
Location: Southsea Common
Meeting Place: Southsea Common opposite the funfair/Hovercraft port
Start Time: 1pm
Details: All day activities including touchtanks from the Blue Reef Aquarium, story telling, marine themed activities and quizzes, fun for all the family.




Discovery walk: Poltesco
Organisation: National Trust
Location: Carleon Cove, Poltesco, Nr Ruan Minor, Helston
Meeting Place: Poltesco car park between Kennack and Ruan Minor
Start Time: 12 noon
Finish Time: 2pm
Duration: 2 Hours
Details: Enjoy a rockpool safari - an event for accompanied children. Please wear sensible footwear and have wet weather gear.





Discovery walk: Chesil Beach
Organisation: Chesil Bank and Fleet Nature Reserve
Location: Chesil Beach and Fleet Lagoon at Portland
Meeting Place: Meet at the Chesil Beach Visitor Centre on the Portland Beach Road.
Start Time: 1pm
Finish Time: 4pm
Details: Enjoy a LowTide trail with a team of amphibious guides! Marine Life, sandflats, lagoon paddling, seabirds, glass bottom boat ride.
Special Charge: £5.00 Adults
