Introduction

A close look at the seashore strandline will often reveal a host of fascinating natural treasures; seashells, bones and egg cases. In medieval times these objects helped to support the existence of mythical sea creatures, to the Victorian naturalists they were fascinating clues to life in the ocean.

Even today the sea is full of mysteries. Twice a day waves cast tantalizing clues upon the beach for us all to discover and provide us with the opportunity to unravel their hidden stories.

Through this exhibition you will discover just what the local seashore strandline can tell us about the life off the Sussex coast.
