Concept:
The 68 mile long Vanguard Way is one of the least known long distance footpaths in S.E. England and yet it passes through areas rich in history and beautiful landscapes. The Vanguard Way project includes open days, guided walks and mini festivals at selected sites; published walks full of interesting information and practical travel details and a website to link all the elements including major inputs by school children. riverOcean is working with three different user groups:

riverOcean is
Providing educators to explain and co-ordinate the first two phases of the project.
Providing a major high quality web site to link the communities and display their work.

Producing a colour brochure which shows the Vanguard Way and explains the project.

Coordinating two open days or mini festivals which will explain the project and show community involvement.

The Vanguard Way
is 68 miles long and joins London, using a series of connecting footpaths, to its nearest channel coastal port at Seaford & Newhaven. The walking route passes through diverse urban and rural communities and landscapes.

Schools
are the focal point for each of the communities. Senior citizen groups and local agenda 21 or wildlife groups are also to be asked to participate
